We run several feature posts and hosted memes at Words in a Teacup:
Like all book lovers, we both have books sitting around that we’ve been “meaning to read” for years, and our TBR lists are so long that we have no idea what to read next. A couple of months ago Amy (amyofaquitaine on LiveJournal) came up with an idea: a book club where people are paired up and pick two books for their buddy to read during the month. It’s all very relaxed, finishing the books is not mandatory (real life happens, or you might find out that one book is just too awful) and there’s a sharing post at the end of the month where you can talk about what you read.
For those interested, sign-ups go up around the end of the month at pick-for-me. Unfortunately the community is for LJ users only, but that shouldn’t deter you from doing your own pick-for-me’s with a partner of your choice, like we did. If you’re not on LJ but still want to get a little idea of it, we’ve screencapped what a sign-up comment looks like. For what it’s worth, we just choose from each other’s TBR piles without specifying most of the time.
What’s Up Buttercup is an overview of the past, present and future here on Words in a Teacup, posted around the middle of the month.
Series! We love reading books in a series. There’s something about getting to know a character over several books and reading more of their adventures. However, unfortunately, sequels have a tendency to take over one’s TBR list. You read the first book in a series and enjoy very much, but then you realize that the series has been running for years and you have eight more books to add to your reading pile! And you mean to read them, but then you see that your favourite author has just published the first book in a new series, or your friend recommends you this other book that you simply have to read now…
You get the picture. So here at Words in a Teacup we’ve decided that it’s time to do some spring cleaning in our TBR list!
